The premiere of the play “Little Tragedies” took place at the Crimean State Youth Theater
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Crimean State Youth Theater notes: director Andrei Permyakov continues to study man and his essence. The cycle of short dramatic plays: “A Feast in the Time of Plague,” “The Miserly Knight,” “Mozart and Salieri” and “The Stone Guest” does not lose its relevance. But telling about human vices and their destructive power, the production of the Crimean Youth Theater leaves hope for the light.
Gathering the heroes of the entire cycle at one table, as if reviving Da Vinci’s “Last Supper,” Permyakov immerses the viewer in the atmosphere of the “dark time” when the plague raged. Andrei Olegovich has never been a director of one technique or style, but his style and perfectionism are distinguishable in both children’s and adult performances, but in “Tragedies” the director experiments with space, time and consciousness. The laconic artistic design of the performance (production designer Olga Dolgova) complements the gloomy environment of the actors and the tragedy of each of the plots. But this entire “Pushkin-Permyakov” dialogue with God is aimed at one thing — the search for light. Prayer and the search for truth, rebirth, through pain and loss, mental tossing and faith, as a symbol of hope and absolute unconditional love. Instead of props, food, water, money — only ashes, instead of gold — steel chains and only real weapons. Only steel blades and ashes remain the only partners of the artists on stage,” noted the theater’s press service.
The first directorial work on the works of A.S. Pushkina attracted full houses in the first days of the show, despite the raging hurricane, spectators went to the theater. The Sunday performance was interrupted by an emergency situation; due to strong gusts of wind, part of Yevpatoria was cut off from power. The electricity in the theater went out while the Mozart and Salieri scene was being played on stage. Mozart’s death and the lights go out, the fascinated spectators did not immediately guess what had happened. The interrupted play “Little Tragedies” will be completed in support of the director and artists; the audience left a lot of positive feedback and are looking forward to the continuation.
