The President of the Russian Federation awarded the commander of the Black Sea Fleet Viktor Sokolov the rank of admiral
CrimeaPRESS reports:
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed the Decree «On the assignment of military ranks of senior officers, special ranks of senior commanding staff, the highest special rank and class ranks.»
Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Viktor Sokolov was awarded the rank of Admiral, Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Valery Khorun was given the rank of Rear Admiral.
Also, the rank of admiral was given to Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Vladimir Kasatonov.
Viktor Sokolov has headed the Admiral Kuznetsov Naval Academy since 2020, and on August 19, 2022, he was appointed acting commander of the Black Sea Fleet, replacing Admiral Igor Osipov in this post.
Interestingly, by the same decree, the prosecutor of the city of Sevastopol, Maxim Zhuk, was awarded the rank of state counselor of justice of the 3rd class.
