The President signed the Law on Biometry in Real Estate transactions

The law on the use of biometrics in real estate transactions was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. It will be possible to use biometrics from July 1, 2026. The document is posted on the website of the official publication of legal acts.

Under the new law, applications for state registration of real estate rights can be submitted in the form of electronic documents signed by reinforced qualified electronic signature. The parties should be identified using a single biometric system.

The new norm applies to electronic transactions with real estate, explained earlier RIA Real Estate State Duma deputy Alexei Govrin. It allows you to apply for registration of rights and all the necessary documents online, in electronic form. Documents must be certified by reinforced qualified electronic signature. This will allow the use of biometric identification a single biometric system without paperwork. At the same time, additional marks of admission to work with electronic signature are not required, the deputy explained. He added that many banks and state bodies are already using a single biometric system. The new law expands its application.

It was decided to postpone the entry into force of the law, since the Rosreestr will take time to finalize it.

Govrin added that the transition to a new identification method has been discussed for a long time. For citizens, nothing will change, since the traditional methods of designing transactions are preserved. For people who have long been using online services and have passed biometrics, the process will become easier.
