The project «Share with us: Life without garbage» was presented in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The team from Sevastopol with the environmental education project “Share with Us: Life Without Garbage” was among the winners of the competition of the Presidential Grants Fund. It was created by the Centralized Library System for Children and the Sevastopol branch of the «New Formation» in order to increase environmental culture and form eco-habits for separate waste collection among adolescents 10-12 years old. The grant for the implementation of the project is 578 thousand rubles.

Separate collection is another step towards conscious consumption. The introduction of separate collection will allow us to recycle what we used to consider garbage, reducing the negative impact on the environment , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Yulia Gavrilova, Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology.

In order to expand the circle of teenagers’ knowledge about the benefits of separate waste collection, it is planned to hold ecological hours, eco-breakfasts, creative work competitions, excursions, flash mobs, collection of waste paper and plastic covers.

The problem of environmental pollution, the emergence of many landfills can be solved by recycling, the so-called «second life of waste.» The process of competent processing of waste should be preceded by their separate collection. But eco-habits for separate waste collection have not been formed among the townspeople. And it is more correct to start their formation from childhood. This is how the idea of a joint project with children’s libraries was born, — says the chairman of the local branch of the «New Formation» Sheryan Seitmemetov.

According to Elena Panchenko, director of the Centralized Library System for Children, Sevastopol children are actively interested in environmental topics.

According to a survey conducted during the development of the project, the majority of children aged 10-12 years of interest in environmental issues. They are ready to learn more about waste sorting, are ready to participate in environmental events held by the library in close cooperation with partners: subbotniks, promotions, excursions to the waste processing plant. The formation of eco-habits for separate waste collection among adolescents, as well as their family members, will help improve the environmental situation in the city of Sevastopol , emphasizes Elena Panchenko.

Detailed information about the project can be found in the Central City Children’s Library. A. P. Gaidar and in the group of the project in the social network VKontakte.

Recall that a project for separate waste collection has started in Sevastopol — a special container has already been installed in Victory Park. New containers are intended only for recyclable materials — waste paper (paper, cardboard), plastic (PET bottles), glass, metal. Such containers differ from standard ones in color. In addition, they have a textual and graphic designation of the types and groups of accumulated waste.
