The prosecutor's office demands to restore the historical towers of the XIV century in Feodosia
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Prosecutor’s Office of Feodosia conducted an audit of compliance with the requirements of the legislation on the protection of cultural heritage sites. Facts of non-fulfillment by the city administration of duties for the maintenance of the Dock Tower and the Tower of Giovanni di Scaffa have been established.
These cultural heritage sites dating back to the 14th century are in disrepair. At the same time, the local self-government body has not taken measures to maintain the Towers in proper technical condition and prevent its deterioration, and the complex of emergency response has not been started. Also, inscriptions and symbols containing information about cultural monuments have not been installed.
Due to the inaction of the local self-government body, which may lead to the loss of monuments, the prosecutor’s office filed claims to the court on the obligation of the city administration to ensure the implementation of measures to preserve cultural heritage sitesthe prosecutor’s office said.
Note that the requirements of the prosecutor have already been satisfied. Emergency response work at the Dock Tower should be carried out within six months, at the Giovanni di Scaffa Tower — within a year. Within a few months, the city administration is obliged to install informative signs about the sights for the townspeople and guests of the Feodosia resort.
