The prosecutor’s office of the city of Sevastopol approved the indictment in a criminal case against an employee of a construction company.

She is charged under Part 3 of Art. 219 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of fire safety requirements, negligently resulting in the death of two or more persons). According to investigators, the woman, being the manager of the construction company, was the person responsible for ensuring fire safety on the territory of the economic site on the street. As a result of the violations committed, on the night of February 2, 2023, the prefabricated building was completely destroyed by fire from a fire in one of the rooms on the ground floor. During the fire, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations evacuated at least 100 people from the hostel, but 8 workers could not be saved: they died from acute carbon monoxide poisoning.

The investigation into the criminal case was conducted by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The prosecutor’s office sent the criminal case to the Balaklavsky District Court of Sevastopol for consideration on the merits.
