The Red Book of Crimea will be replenished

Krympress reports:

Updated Red Book of the Republic of CrimeaIt is planned to reprint by the end of 2025, more than 20 species of plants and about 40 species of animals will be replenished. About this on the air of the radio «Satellite in the Crimea» They told the candidate of biological sciences, a member of the Commission on rare and endangered species under the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Crimea and the Red Book of the Red Book of Crimea Dmitry Epikhin and senior teacher of the Department of Geoecology of the Tauride Academy of KFU Grigory Prokopov.

Rare plant species two more dozen

According to Epikhin, the list of plants of the updated Red Book of Crimea is now actively discussed by members of the commission and authors of the essays of the document. But it is already clear that some species will leave the list.

Because they were included in the previous edition of the Red Book of Russia, and in Crimea they do not exist threats. We were forced to include them in the past edition, but now there is no need for this— explained Epikhin.

Among them are species that have not been recorded in Crimea for more than half a century, he noted. For example, Maikaragan Volzhsky. In the 1960s, he was still found on the shores of Lake Donuzlav, but since then no one has seen it anywhere, including following targeted searches in recent years, Epikhin said.

At the same time, the new edition of the Republican Red Book is expected to be very seriously replenished with plants, as well as mushrooms and lichens, mosses and algae, which today require state protection, added Epikhin.

Already about 20 species in a plus will be. These are mainly rare species that reduce their numbers and range as a result of human economic activity over the past ten years, — said Epikhin.

Among these are psammophytic species growing on sea sandy beaches. According to Epikhin, 20 years ago they were very common in Crimea, especially on the western and eastern coast. But in connection with the active development of the recreational beach resource, these species are catastrophically reduced in numbers, and the area in area is reduced on an unthinkable scale, the scientist claims.

This, for example, is sandy wormwood. It grows through the passage of sandy lakes on the border with the sea. And if 20 years ago there were practically overgrown sand dunes and it was one of the dominants of the vegetation cover, now only islands, and these are aging individuals: they stopped breeding with seed paths— said Epikhin.

According to him, the sandstone wormwood performs important ecosystem functions. Growing on the shore with a narrow strip, it holds the dunes from erosion with storms and fluttering with winds, from which up to 20-30 cm of the sandy beach can be lost in one winter.

Epikhin expressed the hope that the inclusion of sandwich and similar plants of psammophytic species will help to preserve them.

Although the Red Book does not directly protect the habitats, nevertheless, when substantiating specially protected natural territories (protected areas) — reserves, various monuments of nature and other things — this will, of course, in a plus. These are the types of vulnerable, they need to be included in the OSPs in order to save along with the habitat, in the separation of which they cannot live, — summed up Epikhin.

The number of species of protected animals is approaching 400

The same thing about animals says Grigory Prokopov. According to him, the species removed from nature to zoos is almost impossible to preserve.

The task of finding a natural habitat, where the concentration of these species is the highest, and protect. Protection, divorced from habitats, is impossible and meaningless. This is relevant only if we provide that we will return them to nature further, ”the expert said.

According to him, there will also be significant changes in the Red Book of Crimea in the Red Book of Crimea.

Not the same as planned originally, but in the first approximation the number of species should grow to about 395, plus minus two, which are still being discussed. It is planned to exclude from the red book from 16 to 18 types and include up to 38 species— said Prokopov.

Among the controversial species is a small, or Salgir fish, he said.

It is known that this species existed at the beginning of the last century, then disappeared, then tried to inspire it from the reservoirs of the Caucasus, from the rivers, but it did not take root. And now colleagues from the Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas have offered to exclude it, due to the fact that in general it is not there and there is nothing to protect him— said the scientist.

Among the new security, the duck of Savka, the view of which at the world level has recently been considered on the verge of disappearance, while in Crimea for the third year there has been a sedentary population of this bird in fresh Saki lakes, Prokopov shared.

It is noteworthy that here the lakes that take the drains, they even have the corresponding names — a bucket, a sump — but Savka and a number of other birds just attracted this negative factor here, the scientist noted.

And another case when misfortune, in fact, helped. We have an Arabat Strelka — a borderline zone, and due to the fact that there is a closed regime, last year a Flaming nesting colony formed, which deduced more than 100 chicks— said Prokopov.

Flamingo strive not to change the habitats they have chosen, while they are very sensitive to the factors of anxiety, and to say with accuracy whether they will remain here so far. But to do everything possible so that it is just like that — it is necessary, Prokopov believes.

To date, this is so far the only case of Flaming’s nesting in the Russian Federation. For Crimea, this is a status event. And from the point of view of the Ministry of Nature and other bodies, all efforts should be made as much as possible in order to maintain this territory in order to contribute to the subsequent nesting of this type— he said.

According to scientists, the new edition of the Red Book of Crimea should be released by the end of 2025.

Everything that replenishes the republican security document will also be included in the Red Book of Russia, since it is formed on the basis of data from regional red books, experts said.
