As part of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the “Red” Concentration Camp Memorial Complex, which was held under the leadership of the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov, the results of the work done in 2023 were summed up and plans for 2024 were considered. Thus, this year it is planned to hold a number of patriotic and commemorative events.
We will hold events dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of Crimea from the Nazi invaders and the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, as well as the 170th anniversary of the start of hostilities on the peninsula during the Crimean War of 1853-1856.
At the expense of trustees and deputies, we plan to repair three memorial signs to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in the Old Crimea, the village of Izobilnoye, Nizhnegorsky district and the village of Karpovka, Krasnogvardeysky district. Local residents approached us with requests to reconstruct these memorial signs.
We will also hold the traditional “Candle of Memory” event, congratulate our veterans, concentration camp prisoners, children of war, and honor the memory of soldiers who died during the Crimean War and the Great Patriotic Warsaid the head of the republican parliament.
Vladimir Konstantinov is convinced that the Red Memorial should remain “the main Crimean platform for studying historical events, including the results of the Nuremberg Trials, discussing current topics, the reasons for the revival of Nazism in Ukraine, the course of the North Military District.”
The Memorial’s Board of Trustees needs to continue to support the participants of the Special Operation and their relatives. It is equally important to involve new people in the work of the council, to look for trustees,” summarized the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea.
