The Republic of Crimea plans to reduce the shortage of doctors by training personnel in universities in Moscow and the Southern Federal District

To solve the problem of a shortage of doctors, the authorities of the Republic of Crimea have submitted an application to train 345 specialists under a quota at universities in Simferopol, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar, the regional Ministry of Labor and Social Protection told TASS.
In order to train specialists under targeted training agreements <...> for the 2024-2025 academic year, an application has been submitted for the allocation of quotas in the amount of 160 places for training in specialty programs and 185 places for residency programssays the response to the request, signed by First Deputy Minister Tatyana Gudilko.
Applications were submitted to the Crimean Federal University named after Vernadsky, Kuban State Medical University, National Medical Research Centers named after Almazov in St. Petersburg, Psychiatry and Narcology named after. Serbsky in Moscow, as well as at the Rostov State Medical University.
About regional scholarships
The ministry noted that from 2024, medical university students will receive additional payments to their scholarships from the budget of the Republic of Crimea: 40 thousand rubles per year for specialty programs and 60 thousand rubles per year for residency programs. This applies to students who have entered into targeted training agreements with the regional Ministry of Health, who do not have academic debt, and who have passed interim certifications with grades of “good” and “excellent” during the academic year.
According to the ministry, the region experiences the greatest shortage in surgeons, emergency doctors, family doctors, radiologists, and psychiatrists.
Previously, the head of the region Sergei Aksenov reported during a video conference meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, that the shortage of medical personnel in the Republic of Crimea is 2.3 thousand people, the authorities are studying the practices of other regions where this problem is being solved.
