The reservoirs are shallow in Crimea

Krympress reports:

Crimean reservoirs of natural runoff for May lost 11 million cubic meters of water, the total volume of their filling today does not exceed half. This was the broadcast of the Radio «Sputnik in Crimea» was told by the head of the CHD of chemical technologies for the water use of the Institute of Biochemical Technologies, Ecology and Pharmacy KFU named after Vernadsky professor Ilya Nikolenko and director of the scientific and production company «Water Technologies» Anatoly Kopachevsky.

According to Nikolenko, the trends of the low -water period were obviously preserved last May, so by the first month of the summer of water, there were less than another 11 million cubic meters.

The total volume of filling of the reservoirs of natural runoff amounted to 166 million cubic meters. This is about 50% of the volume. That is, the occupancy of our reservoirs, unfortunately, is reduced, ”said Nikolenko.

For comparison, he cited indicators of past years. Last year, at this time of the year, the total volume of reservoirs was 196 million cubic meters, it was 75%, and in May it decreased by 14 million, which, according to Nikolenko, was most likely associated with water discharges in preparation for June with its large tributaries.

In 2023, in the transition period from the multivolum to the low -water, the volume of water reserves amounted to 221 million cubic meters, and for May, reservoirs were filled by 21 million, so that the volume amounted to almost 87%. In 2022, with the beginning of the many -water period, it reached 228 million cubic meters, and according to the results of May, the volume of filling exceeded 90%.

In the 2021th, low-water year, the volume of natural drainage reservoirs was 85 million, in May it decreased by 6 million and reached 33% by June, which became one of the lowest indicators for 40 years of observation, Nikolenko noted.

The maximum content for 40 years was 242 million (96%), and the minimum, in 1994, 62 million cubic meters, in May, the volume decreased by 4%and reached 24%, that is, a quarter. And the average -year -old, which we always focus on, was 189 million by June, it was 75%, but still in May the indicator decreased by 3 million. That is, we see that May perennial trends are preserved, but at the same time those characteristics that are characteristic of the low -water period are also preserved, ”Nikolenko summed up.

According to Kopachevsky, the tributaries for May in Ayan, Simferopol and partisan reservoirs that feed the capital of Crimea clearly demonstrate this trend.

So, the influx for May in the Ayan reservoir amounted to 467 thousand cubic meters with a average -year value of 988 thousand. The Simferopol reservoir for May was replenished by 1 million 168 thousand cubic meters, while the average year old indicator during this period is almost three times more — 3 million 248 million. And the partisan reservoir of the last spring month gave 606 thousand cubic meters, which is six times less than the average -year -old value — 3 million 646 thousand cubic meters, Kopachevsky emphasized.

But if you add the value of the tributaries in Ayan, Simferopol and partisan for the period from January to May, then this value is at the level of the dried 2020, and our drought is just beginning— he said.

The expert concludes that if we observe such a trend in the small tributary for the period from January to May already in 2025, then it can be assumed that the tributaries will be even smaller in 2026 and 2027, which «will be very disusive.»

The other day, the chairman of the Committee of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea on Ecology and Natural Resources, Svetlana Shabelnikova, said that the level of provision of Crimea with clean drinking water in the holiday season 2025 will be 60%.
