“Pilots of the Future” is the flagship project of the sports direction of the “First Movement” for future defenders of the Motherland.

In the First Movement, the children themselves propose ideas for projects and events, which are carried out for them by adult mentors. Schoolchildren from all over the country were inspired by the exploits of the special operation participants — UAV operators — and wanted to learn how to control drones. The idea was quickly supported in the federal center, and today the regional championship ended in Sevastopol— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the chairman of the Council of the regional branch of the “Movement of the First” of Sevastopol, Anna Molchanova.

During preparation for the championship, the pilots and technical engineers of the teams conducted training in an online simulator on specialized tracks, prepared for testing, and also took part in a creative competition.

The Quantorium technology park became the base for training young pilots and the site for the regional stage. The guys had to speed through a track that was specially designed for the tournament. Student pilots used a special controller for this, which found application in the special operation zone. The organizers note that thanks to online simulators, it is possible to reduce the cost of training to pilot drones. After 100 hours of flight time on the computer, pilots begin to practice on real quadcopters.

According to the results of the tournament, the first place in the junior age category was taken by the team “Golden Drones-Dragons”, the second place was taken by the guys from the “Air Era”. In the senior age category, the “Sevastopol” team won, “Belchat” took silver, and third place was taken by members of the “Dron Tech” team.

We learned about the project and decided that we wanted to become the pilots of the future. Preparation for the tournament was not easy, we even had to change the program. The route seemed difficult at first, but after several attempts we managed to complete it without mistakes.,” shares Timur Pilikin, a member of the “Golden Drones-Dragons” team.

The winners of regional stages in two age categories – from 6 to 13 years old and from 13 to 18 years old – will advance to the finals of the project. The lists of finalists will be published on the movement’s website before June 1. More than 180 teams will be able to demonstrate their level of skill in the All-Russian championship. The final competition will take place in the summer of 2024. The best pilots of the final competitions will undergo internships in large industrial and fuel and energy companies, where they will be able to apply their acquired skills.
