The results of the Water Sports Festival were announced in Sevastopol

The water sports festival “Sevastopol Sails” is a physical education and sports event that has been held by the Sevastopol Sailing Federation since 2014. It includes sailing, yawl, kayaking, canoeing and indoor rowing.

For Sevastopol, this is already a traditional event. Every year our yachtsmen look forward to the start of the Festival. Each race is unique and attracts sea lovers. And this is not only a physical test, but also a real art, where everyone finds something of their own. I wish the Sevastopol Sails a long and happy voyage— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the department for the development of physical culture, mass and adaptive sports Larisa Evdokimova.

This year there was a busy program: within the framework of the Festival, the Sevastopol City Championship in ORC cruising yachts, the MX700 class Cup, an Interregional Regatta and training in the basics of sailing for children and adults took place.

Also within the framework of the festival, master classes on sailing for children and adults were held. Last weekend, 30 children from 10 to 14 years old got acquainted with the beauty of our sea and the basics of sailing the single-seater dinghy «Optimist», and this weekend 50 adults tested their skills in sailing the sailing yacht «MX700». Among the adult participants were nine soldiers of a special military operation, who spent the day off at the Festival with their families, and among the children were children of SVO participants.

This year, “Sevastopol Sails” includes almost 300 participants of different ages, 10 racing days, very changeable weather and spectacular races. I myself have a direct connection to sailing and understand that for every athlete it is not only a sport, but also an opportunity to enjoy the sea, the views of our bays and communicate with like-minded people. It’s especially great that we managed to teach 30 children and 50 adults the basics of sailing. We hope that participants will become interested in this sport and continue to develop their skills. I thank the Federation for organizing and holding this physical education festival in Sevastopol,” notes the head of the sports department, Sergei Reznichenko.

The winners and prize-winners of sailing competitions in each qualifying group of cruising yachts, in the MX700 class based on the results of all races, in children’s and youth and Olympic classes of yachts were awarded cups, medals of appropriate denomination, diplomas of appropriate degrees and memorable souvenirs.
