The Russian Aerospace Forces received a new A-50U radar aircraft from Rostec

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Ruselectronics holding and the United Aircraft Corporation (both companies are part of the Rostec State Corporation) delivered another modernized long-range radar surveillance and guidance aircraft complex, the A-50U, to the troops. The aircraft can detect new types of aircraft, and is also capable of simultaneously tracking a larger number of targets and guided fighters than the previous modification. The use of modern equipment has reduced the weight of the aircraft and made it possible to increase the flight range and time spent in the air when performing combat missions.

The upgraded board received new electronics with greater performance and speed, which made it possible to increase the capabilities of functional software. The use of new LCD monitors of greater size and resolution has increased the efficiency of the radar situation display system, and improved aircraft ergonomics are designed to reduce tactical crew fatigue. The A-50U also received a new flight and navigation system.

The A-50U long-range radar surveillance and guidance aircraft complex is a necessary vehicle in modern combat conditions. As a result of modernization, the aircraft received new technical equipment, which increases the speed and range of detection of air, ground and sea targets, and the effectiveness of countering the enemy. The aircraft was modernized as part of the program for updating the AWACS aircraft fleet, provided for by the state defense order.— said in Rostec.

As part of Ruselectronics, the work on modernizing the aircraft was carried out by Concern Vega, and as part of the United Aircraft Corporation — TANTK named after. G.M. Beriev.

The use of modernized A-50U flying radars in the area of a special military operation makes it possible to quickly detect enemy air targets and effectively counter them with aviation and air defense forces. Taking into account the high demand for these vehicles among the troops, we have handed over another aircraft and in the near future we plan to complete the modernization of another A-50 complex— said Vyacheslav Mikheev, general designer of the Vega Concern.

Ruselectronics is a national electronics vendor. Founded in 1997, in 2009 it became part of the Rostec State Corporation. The parent structure is JSC United Instrument-Making Corporation. The holding includes the largest concerns of the country’s radio-electronic industry — Sozvezdie, Vega, Avtomatika, NIIAA, as well as the National Informatization Center (NCI).
