The Central Election Commission approved three-day voting for the election of the Head of State.
The Russian Presidential elections will be held from March 15 to 17, 2024. This was announced on December 8 by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova.
The draft resolution provides for voting in the presidential elections within three days — March 15, 16, 17, 2024— she said.
The resolution on the three-day format was adopted by CEC members during a vote initiated by the head of the department.
Pamfilova noted that this format is already becoming “traditional for the Russian electoral system”. She recalled that for the first time, three-day voting was used during a pandemic to ensure the safety of citizens.
The head of the CEC added that based on the results of the All-Russian vote, when the agency conducted its research, “it was already clear that multi-day voting was supported by many voters«
And then, when we began to propose using it in other elections, we clearly understood, we are sure, and this is confirmed by various sources, that the majority of voters liked this voting format,” Pamfilova emphasized.
The start of the election campaign has, in fact, already been given. Self-nominees in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation must submit documents to the Central Election Commission to participate in the campaign by December 27. Party candidates will be able to submit documents until January 1, she noted.
Earlier, the chairman of the Central Election Commission said that remote electronic voting for the presidential elections in 2024 will be carried out “in the same regions where it took place earlier» The format will be used in no more than 30 regions of the Russian Federation.
It is clarified that the state automated system “Elections” (GAS “Elections”) and its digital analogue, which will be used in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation in 2024, are completely protected from any intrusion, unlawful interference and various types of attacks.
