The Saki District Court sentenced a repeat offender to a real prison term for driving while intoxicated.

On November 6, 2024, the Saki District Court of the Republic of Crimea sentenced a 34-year-old resident of the Saki region to imprisonment for repeated drunk driving.
The court established the circumstances of the crime. A man, previously convicted of drunk driving, again got behind the wheel of a moped while intoxicated and was detained by a traffic police officer. Based on the results of the examination at the scene of arrest, the man was found to be intoxicated. At the court hearing, the accused fully admitted his guilt and repented of his crime. The court took into account the nature and degree of public danger of the crime committed by the defendant within a short period of time after his conviction for a similar offense. The man was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, he was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 1 year 6 months to be served in a high-security correctional colony. A repeat offender is deprived of the right to drive vehicles for a period of 5 years. The moped on which the crime was committed was confiscated into state ownership— reported the press service of the court.
