The regional program of the World Youth Festival is taking place in Sevastopol. On the second day, foreign participants visited the city’s museums to become more familiar with its history and significant personalities, and also talked with a veteran of the Great Patriotic War.
The second day of the regional program began with a visit to the Museum Historical and Memorial Complex to the heroic defenders of Sevastopol “35th Coastal Battery”, where participants watched the film “Sevastopol. Recent History» and learned about the key moments in the history of the city and the significance of its return to Russia.
The participants also met with Mikhail Stepanovich Latokha and discussed his life path — an example of how a veteran of the Great Patriotic War at the age of 16 went to the front amazed young people. In addition, there was a meeting with the director of the 35th Coastal Battery museum, Valery Volodin, who told foreign guests about the museum and its role in studying the history of the city.
Our regional program is an interweaving of the heroic past of Sevastopol with the present and future. We introduce participants to the historically significant places of the city, show how it is developing now and what results it has achieved in ten years as part of Russia, and also introduce our youth — active, creative, purposeful, loving their city and country and maximally open to dialogue and cooperation and friendship– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the Sevastopol Youth Affairs Department Marina Slonchenko.
In the afternoon, the foreign delegation attended an excursion to Sapun Mountain, the participants saw with their own eyes the museum-diorama “Storm of Sapun Mountain” and paid tribute to the memory of the fallen defenders of the city.

Let us remind you that the regional program of the World Youth Festival in Sevastopol runs from March 9 to 13 under the thematic track “We have returned to Russia.” The program participants included representatives of 22 countries, who during the program will be able to get acquainted with the city and its youth, historical places and new infrastructure facilities.
