The document has passed the state examination and received a positive conclusion. In the near future it will be presented to the residents of Gagarinsky district for discussion.
The design took almost five years. The deadlines were delayed by repeated changes of contractors, archaeological excavations and numerous approvals in high offices.
The second stage of the reconstruction of the Victory Park will affect two areas on its territory. The first is 3.6 hectares — in the area of Parkovaya Street. The second is 2.6 hectares — in the area of Fadeeva and Letchikov Streets. The customer of the reconstruction is the State Institution «Unified Directorate of Capital Construction».
The initial project, which has been carried out since 2019 by the Research and Design Institute of Urban Development, Architecture, Surveys and Environment, a subordinate of the Department of Architecture, did not pass the filter of the architectural and urban planning council. The contractor was replaced by JSC Sevastopolstroyproekt. Its developers rethought the concept of reconstruction and improvement of the park in the style of the already completed first stage, developed a plan for landscaping, maintaining pedestrian connections with the existing buildings, and carefully treated the cultural heritage sites — the remains of six boundary walls of the Chersonesos Chora of the 4th century BC.
So, according to the project, the landscaped area will feature modular buildings for the park administration, two public catering facilities with toilets, several playgrounds, recreation areas with swings and hammocks, yoga and exercise areas, a skate park, a pump track, bike parking, parking for electric scooters, a gazebo, a green tunnel and a dog walking area.
The highlight of the project will be a complex for water games. The aqua zone consists of a complex system of streams, dams, pumps and sprinklers. Anyone can fill the stream with water, launch a boat, raise the water to a higher level using Archimedes’ screw.
A site for exhibitions of paintings and flowers is planned. Its canopy is supplemented with a fogging system, which will allow additional cooling of the outside air in the summer.
The ruins of the ancient boundary walls will be highlighted with lighting. A steel pedestrian bridge will be thrown over one of them.
Particular attention is paid to the park’s greening. According to the designers, they managed to protect almost 2,700 trees from being torn down. In favor of greenery, they had to give up and convince the customers of the tennis courts and the stage. Almost 10 thousand new plants will be planted in the park: coniferous and deciduous trees and perennial shrubs.
As far as Sevastopolskaya Gazeta has managed to find out, the project will be presented to residents of the Gagarinsky District on Saturday, August 10, in Victory Park at the entrance from Parkovaya Street.
