Today a ceremonial meeting was held dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Sevastopol boarding home for the elderly and disabled. The event was attended by representatives of the executive and legislative branches of government, public organizations of the city, the military orchestra of the Sevastopol Regiment of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, as well as creative groups.
Deputy Governor of Sevastopol Alexander Kulagin, on behalf of the head of the city, congratulated social workers on the holiday and presented certificates of honor from the Government of Sevastopol and gratitude from the governor:
I sincerely congratulate the employees on the 40th anniversary of the establishment. The house employs specialists who are sensitive and attentive to people, taking on the waves of human problems. Thanks to high professionalism and dedication, you cope with the assigned tasks with honor. I wish the boarding house to remain the same cozy and warm place, and I wish all the staff and guests health, creative energy, happiness and peace.
During the event, First Deputy Director of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Elena Bardakova awarded certificates of honor and gratitude from the department to the employees of the institution.
Over these 40 years, a large number of people have passed through the walls of this house. I am sure that the atmosphere that was created here helped these people understand that this is a real home, where it is warm, light and cozynotes Elena Bardakova.
The Chairman of the Committee on Health and Social Policy, Tatyana Shcherbakova, thanked the Legislative Assembly of representatives of the social services of Sevastopol; she congratulated the employees on the holiday on behalf of the deputy corps of the Sevastopol parliament.
194 people live in the boarding house, 110 of them have disabilities, 9 people are veterans of the Great Patriotic War. The main task of the team of social workers is to do everything to create home-like comfortable conditions for the wards.
The state pays enormous attention to the development of social institutions and improving the quality of social services. The country has taken responsibility for the life and health of people who find themselves in difficult life situations. We understand and share this responsibility for our clients, mostly single people, and try to make their lives more comfortable. Living as one big happy family is our main task! – says the head of the institution, Yana Gancheva.
The structure of the Sevastopol boarding home for the elderly and disabled employs 141 employees.
In addition, it is worth noting that from 2015 to the present, the financing and logistics of the boarding house have been constantly improving. A major overhaul of the outpatient department was carried out with the purchase of the necessary medical equipment, and the renovation of the residential and medical buildings, the administrative building with a catering unit, the roof and facade of the building was also completed. A new fence was installed around the entire territory with the installation of a video surveillance system, and the external sewage system was repaired. Currently, work on landscaping the adjacent territory and major renovation of the 3rd floor of the medical building is being completed. Conditions have been created for the accessibility of facilities and services for people with disabilities and other low-mobility groups at the entrances and traffic routes inside buildings, in sanitary facilities. Audiovisual and information systems were installed inside, areas for providing services and waiting areas were equipped, and lifts were purchased to move people with disabilities. Sliding entrance doors and ramps were installed, and elevators were replaced. New vehicles were also purchased to transport wheelchair users to medical institutions. For recipients of social services in the nursing home, 4 meals a day are provided. For long trips there is a social taxi service.
As part of the regional project “Older Generation” of the national project “Demography”, leisure activities are organized for the residents of the boarding home — concerts, living rooms, master classes, choral singing, handicraft and computer literacy clubs, a library and a cinema hall.
Some retirees even decide to start families. So, 72-year-old Svetlana and 65-year-old Victor met each other on a walk in a boarding house. Two years ago, on March 25, we got married.
Health trips to the beach for the elderly and disabled, which are organized in our city, were recognized as the best practice in the region. The program was developed taking into account the mild climate, sea air, using special means for bathing the disabled and classes in breathing exercises, auto-training and relaxation. The goal of the project is to improve the quality of life, health, and psycho-emotional status of residents.
