The Sevastopol Film Festival “St. Vladimir” received more than 400 applications from filmmakers

At the House of Officers of the Black Sea Fleet of Sevastopol, a meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the IX Russian festival of films and television films with spiritual and moral content “St. Vladimir” was held, which will be held in Sevastopol from October 21 to 25, 2023. The festival is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. This year, the festival organizing committee received more than 400 applications from filmmakers from 33 regions of the Russian Federation, including Sevastopol and Crimea, as well as from Belarus, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Latvia, France, Morocco, Egypt, Iraq and Iran. The competitive and out-of-competition programs will consist of 95 films.
Films about the Great Patriotic War and the heroes of the Northern Military District will be presented. The heroes of the paintings are soldiers and officers, volunteers, volunteers — everyone who contributes to our Victory. These works are combined into a special nomination “For the Motherland!” Crimean filmmakers from Evpatoria, Sevastopol, Simferopol, Feodosia and Yalta will also present their creations in the special category “Crimea in the Frame”– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the president of the festival “St. Vladimir” Elena Ivanichenko.
She also noted that military officers who worked in the special operation zone would also take part in the festival.
During the festival, the works of the best Russian filmmakers can be viewed for free in four cinemas in Sevastopol. The main venue will be the retro cinema «Ukraine», where festival sessions will be organized daily from October 21 to 25 from 10:00 to 22:00. In addition, films from the Saint Vladimir festival will be shown in Moscow, Rossiya and Sailor. On the weekend before the festival — October 15 and 16 — a children’s program will be held in each cinema during the daytime.
The film program “St. Vladimir” will also be presented in the network of regional cultural centers subordinate to the Department of Culture of Sevastopol. The goal is to attract as many people as possible so that every Sevastopol resident has the opportunity to watch festival films with a spiritual and moral charactersays Director of the Department of Culture Angela Sumakova.
The winner and laureates of the St. Vladimir festival will be awarded at the official closing ceremony. It will be held on October 24 at the Black Sea Fleet Officers’ House. The Grand Prix will be presented to the winner by the chairman of the jury, director, screenwriter, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation Yuri Kara. Famous artists Sergei Zhigunov, Mikhail Mamaev, Natalya Bondarchuk will also present awards.
The Saint Vladimir Film Festival is held with the assistance of the Government and Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol, the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, with the blessing of Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea.
