The Sevastopol maternity hospital No. 2 has an unprecedented result to reduce infant mortality

The Ministry of Health of Russia noted the impressive results of the work of the Sevastopol Health System in the field of health and child health.

Infant mortality today is one of the lowest in the country. And speaking of the help of the mother and the child, the format, when the newborn child has maximum medical protection, was fully implemented, ”said the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko.

Since the beginning of 2025, more than two thousand clans have already been adopted in the maternity hospital No. 2. The institution has tribal halls, a department of pathology of newborns and premature children, resuscitation. The most difficult operations can be performed here for both mothers and children who were born.

In Sevastopol, infant mortality is one of the lowest in the country. This became possible thanks to a large team of medical workers: obstetrician-gynecologists, neonatologists, resuscitologists who help our children to provide this help so that they are healthy. And of course, thanks to the modernization that took place in the maternity hospital. We are grateful to the governor Mikhail Razvozhaev for attention to issues of motherhood and childhood and support, which already gives the results— said Elena Levanovich, deputy chief physician for obstetrics and gynecology.

The hospital is designed for 130 seats. There are 11 maternity rooms, three operating rooms, a detention of pregnant women with 50 seats, the postpartum department — they are all equipped with new equipment. In the resuscitation and intensive care unit for newborns, artificial ventilation devices are installed, incubators for newborns and open resuscitation systems. Here they nurse newborn weighing from 500 grams, as well as babies with congenital pathologies. The very maternity ward itself is equipped with modern equipment for continuous observation of the state of the mother and child.

After major repairs, the maternity hospital received a lot of modern equipment that allows you to organize a fairly effective monitoring of patients. That is, we get the opportunity to control blood pressure, pulse, saturation, also the necessary laboratory tests in constant mode. This allows you to intervene in time when the indicators are deviated from the norm”Said Konstantin Dolgov, head of the anesthesiological intensive care unit.

Next to each bed, special monitors that allow you to continuously monitor the important health parameters of patients in real time. All data is automatically entered on a single central screen. Previously, the nurse had to regularly go around the chambers to identify possible disorders of women. Now all the monitoring is carried out centrally — the sister on duty has the opportunity to monitor the condition of all patients at the same time, directly from the workplace, without looking up from the performance of current duties.

Thanks to the implementation of the National Project «Family» in 2025, funds were allocated for the purchase of 180 units of additional equipment for the maternity hospital. Another hypothermia apparatus has appeared, which allows you to minimize a situation where resuscitation measures are required as a result of severe aspixia, a nitrogen oxide apparatus to help heavy patients, IVL devices, which combine high -frequency, traditional and auxiliary ventilations, an open resuscitation system for maternity rooms.

Thanks to modernization, the maternity hospital received the status of an obstetric hospital of the third level. In the future, it is planned to create a full perinatal center. For this, within the framework of the state program, repairs and re -equipment of the pipe building is carried out, the total construction readiness of which today is 85%.
