The Sevastopol prosecutor's office is concerned about the state of affairs at the solid municipal waste landfill in Pervomayskaya gully

The Sevastopol Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office, with the involvement of specialists from the Southern Interregional Department of Rosprirodnadzor, checked the activities of the regional operator for the operation of the Pervomayskaya Balka solid municipal waste landfill in the city of Inkerman.

It was established that the technological cycle of operation of one of the landfill maps is not properly ensured when placing waste. In addition, the enterprise did not place degassing pipes at the landfill to ensure protection of atmospheric air, and the existing water outlet that disperses rainwater does not meet the requirements of the design documentation. The forest fund territory adjacent to the landfill is littered with household waste.— the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office reported.

The environmental prosecutor initiated administrative offence cases against an official of Sevastopol City Improvement LLC under Article 8.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (failure to comply with environmental requirements in the implementation of urban development activities and the operation of enterprises, structures or other facilities) and Parts 4 and 7 of Article 8.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (failure to comply with environmental protection requirements in the handling of production and consumption waste).

Having reviewed the case materials, the Southern Regional Department of Rosprirodnadzor brought the guilty party to administrative responsibility in the form of a fine of 20 thousand rubles.

In order to eliminate the violations, the environmental prosecutor filed a claim with the Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol to oblige OOO BGS to install degassing pipes and a wastewater discharge outlet at the landfill in accordance with the design documentation. In addition, the city prosecutor’s office submitted a submission on these issues to the Government of Sevastopol.

The review of acts of prosecutorial response and the actual elimination of violations of the law is under the control of the supervisory authority.
