The Sevastopol prosecutor's office is dealing with the cultural heritage site «Ust-Belbekskoe Northern Settlement»
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The prosecutor’s office of the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol checked the implementation of urban planning, land legislation and legislation on the protection of cultural heritage sites during construction work in the village of Lyubimovka.
It has been established that within the boundaries of the identified cultural heritage site “Settlement “Ust-Belbekskoye Severnoe”” and within the protective zone of the cultural heritage site of regional significance “30th Coastal Battery”, there is a land plot owned by an individual. In accordance with the requirements of the current legislation, the construction of capital structures, excavation and construction work on it is prohibited. Despite this, in this area, in the absence of permitting documentation, excavation work was carried out, metal piles were installed with a wooden base installed on them, and a one-story building was erected on a pile foundation,” noted the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office.
As a result of these actions, the territory of the ancient settlement was damaged. The cost of the measures required in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation to preserve the archaeological heritage site is more than 1 million rubles.
The audit was carried out in cooperation with the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
The district prosecutor sent the materials to the internal affairs bodies. Based on the results of their consideration, the police opened a criminal case under Art. 243.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the requirements for the preservation or use of identified objects of cultural heritage, resulting in large-scale damage through negligence).
The progress and results of the criminal investigation are under the control of the prosecutor’s office.
