CrimeaPRESS reports:

From March 21 to March 24, the «Lung Health Week» was held at the Sevastopol TB Dispensary. These days, everyone who wished to receive advice from phthisiatricians about the features of the manifestation of tuberculosis, possible ways of infection and the main measures to prevent this disease. In total, 1,107 Sevastopol residents came to check their health, including 259 children. Specialists conducted 391 X-ray examinations of the lungs, Diaskintest was performed on 91 young patients.

Tuberculosis is a disease that can occur without any severe symptoms. The incubation period can be quite long, for example, a person can become infected in childhood, and get sick already in old age. Therefore, every person, regardless of profession and belonging to risk groups, needs to undergo annual preventive examinations, including X-ray examination of the lungs. As part of the research, we can detect not only tuberculosis, but also other respiratory diseases— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the chief physician of the Sevastopol TB dispensary Andrey Verbitsky.

He added that at the end of last year, the situation with tuberculosis in Sevastopol remains stable and is at the level of 32 people per 100,000 population. This figure is below the epidemic threshold.

As a reminder, today is World TB Day. Every year, by this date, the action «Week of Lung Health» is held, when everyone who wishes, without a referral and an appointment, can contact the Sevastopol TB dispensary and check their lungs.
