The smartphone cost 35 thousand rubles — was sold for 2 thousand. Theft from a sleeping man in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The police found that a drunk local resident fell asleep at a public transport stop, and after waking up, he did not notice that he had forgotten his mobile phone there, and went home. The abandoned smartphone was discovered by a passerby and, after making sure there were no witnesses, he stole it and disappeared.

A little later, the thief turned to a fast food cafe with a request to charge the phone and, during a conversation with the seller, offered to sell him the device for 2 thousand rubles. The catering worker agreed to the tempting offer, but then discovered a SIM card in it, as well as personal data, so he contacted the rightful owner and returned the smartphone. As a result of operational search activities, criminal investigation officers of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Gagarinsky district identified and detained a suspect in the theft. He turned out to be a 40-year-old local resident, — the details of the incident were announced by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.

A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”. The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.
