The Social Fund warns Sevastopol residents: cases of fraud have become more frequent
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Cases of telephone calls from criminals who pose as employees of the Social Fund have become more frequent. They promise to increase your pension or eliminate an error in your personal account. Under the pretext of helping them make an appointment with the customer service, these unknown people ask to dictate codes from SMS messages, which in fact give them access to citizens’ personal data. We remind you, never tell strangers your passport details, bank card number, PIN code, SMS code, or password from your personal account. Remind your relatives and friends of the older generation about this.
Specialists of the SFR branch in Sevastopol can call residents, for example, who have submitted applications for a certain payment or benefit, with a request to provide the missing documents to the customer service. But at the same time, they do not request any information over the phone, but invite citizens to an appointment at any OSFR client service without a coupon, at any time. They are never asked to dictate PIN codes, bank details, SNILS, etc. Social Fund employees do not go door to door with services, checks or surveys, and all services for registration and recalculation of pensions are provided free of charge,” noted the department’s press service.
How to recognize scammers?
- get in touch themselves (call, SMS, email);
- talk about money (transfers to a secure account);
- asking for personal data (card number, passwords, codes);
- unbalance (scare or, conversely, promise benefits);
- pressing, demanding urgent action.
If you notice one of the signs, this is a reason to hang up.
