State Budgetary Institution “Parks and Squares” signed a contract for 21.4 million rubles with LLC “Aves-Stroy” to carry out major repairs of the square near the Peter and Paul Cathedral.
The square, located in the Leninsky district of Sevastopol, performs aesthetic, recreational, environmental functions of regional and citywide importance and is part of the state program “Development and Reform of the City of Sevastopol for 2015-2020,” the signed contract states. According to the terms of reference, the contractor is obliged to carry out dismantling work, lay utility networks, equip pedestrian paths with concrete and large-format tiles, asphalt concrete and granite curbs; organize lawns and flower beds; plant green spaces; fence everything off; install benches, trash cans and other street furniture and small architectural forms. At the top of the retaining walls, it is necessary to use parapet granite slabs with a rough surface. At the bottom of the retaining walls there are solid granite steps, which will ensure their durability. The surface of the steps must be heat treated to impart an “anti-slip” property— reports «Sevastopol newspaper».
Completion of work is scheduled for November 30 this year, and the contract is valid until January 29, 2024.
They started talking about overhauling the square back in 2020. Then, a subordinate organization of the urban management department of the State Budgetary Institution “Parks and Squares” also signed a contract for 40 million rubles with SK-service LLC for the improvement of public areas. The design documentation for the facility was developed by the Voronezh company Tekhnodorproekt LLC. Then the reconstruction was planned to be completed in November 2020.
During 2020, the developed project was presented to Sevastopol residents several times for discussion. As a result, it was discovered that the developers forgot to provide security zones for the cathedral located on this territory. The documentation was sent for revision, and then they completely forgot about it. Almost two years have passed since then.
Finally, this summer, the necessary archaeological surveys were carried out on the territory and no objects of archaeological heritage were found within the boundaries of the square, which gave the green light for construction and installation work.
