The State Duma adopted a bill banning the use of mobile phones in schools
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Teachers and parents have long asked for a ban on the use of mobile phones in schools.
Deputies of the State Duma adopted in the first reading amendments to the Federal Law “On Education” in terms of improving the interaction of participants in the educational process.
Parents and teachers have long been asking for a ban on the use of mobile phones during school lessons. The amendments will increase discipline: children will not be distracted by smartphonessaid Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
In his opinion, «the adoption of the law will increase the authority of the teacher and promote live communication in the classroom«
This is important given that many children today suffer from a real addiction to mobile phones and have difficulties with social communication,” emphasized Vyacheslav Volodin.
Earlier, the Chairman of the State Duma conducted a survey in his Telegram channel about the need to adopt such a law. Eighty-four percent of survey participants supported this decision.
Finalization of the bill for the second reading.
During the discussion of the bill, the Chairman of the State Duma also proposed amendments so that the provisions of the law were directly applicable and did not create loopholes and conflict situations. According to him, at this stage, a number of provisions of the bill raise questions among the parent community:
Many said that the norm that is proposed regarding phones is partly blurred and introduces doubts and anxiety about the use of phones in the classroom for the educational process.
When we finalize the bill for the second reading, we must clarify this provision correctly and find a solution to the issue that will suit both parents and teachers. We must say: phones cannot be used, except in emergency cases when it comes to the health of students, situations related to the need to use communication means for the teacher during the educational process.
According to parliamentarians, this will make the law better.
Consideration of the bill in the second reading is scheduled for early December.
