The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted a law on the ban on advertising on unwanted resources

The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted a law on the ban on advertising on unwanted resources

Krympress reports:

The third reading has adopted a bill establishing a ban on the distribution of advertising on the information resources of organizations recognized in Russia as undesirable or extremist and prohibited in the country.

The initiative of legislators is aimed at suppressing the enrichment of the owners of sites leading “provocative activities and unkind actions” against Russia and its citizens, Vyacheslav Volodin chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said in his Telegram channel.

The ban on advertising also applies to the sites of foreign, international organizations, public or religious associations, access to which is limited in accordance with the legislation of Russia.

It is noted that the advertiser and the advertiser will be liable for violation of the prohibitions. A similar ban has already been implemented in relation to advertising on the resources of persons recognized by foreign agents.

As explained by the State Duma deputy, a member of the Inform Policy Committee, the federal coordinator of the Digital Russia party project Anton Nemkin, the bill adopted is an important step in ensuring the country’s information security.

It is aimed at protecting citizens and interests of Russia, as well as to reduce destructive influence from the outside, He noted.

According to Nemkin, the resources of extremist organizations should not earn on Russian users:

Subsequently, this earnings are going to finance foreign platforms engaged in the spread of fakes and destructive ideas. At the same time, users themselves are not always aware of what their interaction with prohibited resources can finally end. The restriction of advertising is a consistent step in the conditions of the information war in which we live today. It is aimed at increasing information security and protecting users from any manipulation— said the deputy.

Nemkin emphasized that Russian sites today can provide all the advertising tools necessary for the business.

Unlike foreign resources that have deprived users of significant functionality. This, in turn, is another step aimed at supporting Russian platforms— the deputy emphasized.
