In the State Duma, the grand opening of the exhibition “240 years since the founding of the Hero City of Sevastopol” took place on September 27. As part of the celebration of the city’s anniversary, the faction of the All-Russian political party «United Russia» in the State Duma, together with the Government of Sevastopol, organized an exhibition that presented the main milestones of the legendary history of the city of Russian glory.

Residents of Sevastopol remember that the State Duma and senators of the Russian Federation in 2014 helped create the legislative framework for the region and integrate into the legal field of the Russian Federation. We still feel this support now. We see how projects implemented in the city receive approval at the federal level, and how regional legislative initiatives are supported. I want to assure you that Sevastopol, a city that has survived two defenses, will not waver even now, it will stand. The head of the United Russia faction, Vladimir Vasiliev, especially noted the changes that have occurred in Sevastopol since 2014.

In the nine years since Sevastopol returned to Russia, the population has increased by more than 160 thousand people, and the gross regional product has increased sixfold, the number of children has increased from 37 thousand to 50 thousand.

Senator from Sevastopol Ekaterina Altabaeva thanked the State Duma deputies who supported the city from the first days of the “Russian Spring”:

Senator from Sevastopol Sergei Kolbin, who headed the Berkut special forces in 2014, emphasized the patriotic spirit of the city.
