The story of theft during the construction of a sports school in Gaspra is nearing its legal conclusion

A criminal investigation has been completed against an official accused of a number of crimes during the construction of a sports school in Gaspra.

The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has completed an investigation into the criminal case against the director of the Yalta sports school. He is accused of committing a number of official and corruption crimes: receiving a large bribe, exceeding official authority and negligence (clause “c” of part 5 of article 290, part 1 of article 286, part 1 of article 286, part. 1 Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)— reported the Investigative Committee.

The investigative department for the city of Yalta established that between the city sports school located in the village of Gaspra, represented by the director and individual entrepreneurs, a number of municipal contracts were concluded for repairs at the specified facility, as well as for the supply of goods and equipment for sports grounds in an amount exceeding 5. 9 million rubles.

The director of the sports school was not convinced of the completeness of the construction work, and in a number of cases knew for certain about the facts of their partial completion and incomplete supply of sports equipment. However, he nevertheless signed the acts of acceptance, after which he ordered payment for the contractors’ work in full. At the same time, as a result of illegal actions from March to November 2022, budget funds for unfinished work in the amount of more than 1.6 million rubles were unlawfully transferred to the performers. It was also established that the director of the sports school entered into a contract with one of the entrepreneurs for a bribe of 350 thousand rubles, which he received through an intermediary.

The criminal activities of the official were stopped by employees of the republican departments of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia with the force support of the special forces of the Russian Guard.

Three apartments and the official’s car were seized in order to compensate for the damage caused.,” the Sledkom clarified.

The criminal investigation has been completed. The materials were sent to the prosecutor’s office for the purpose of studying, approving the indictment and then sending it to court for consideration on the merits.

The investigation also assessed the actions of contractors, against whom criminal cases had previously been sent to court for mediation, bribery, and fraudulent actions.
