The Supreme Court of Crimea confirmed the verdict of the fraudster… the “courier” of the scammers

The Supreme Court of Crimea considered a criminal case against a 45-year-old resident of Sevastopol. In August of this year, he was found guilty of committing three crimes under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).
The court found that a resident of the city of Sevastopol, acting as a courier, at the direction of his handlers, who made calls to the subscriber numbers of mobile and landline telephones of city residents and, to the citizens who answered them, posing as law enforcement officers, reported false information about that their relatives have committed crimes. Thus, the defendant received money from 84, 81 and 73-year-old women totaling over 608 thousand rublesrecalled the circumstances in the prosecutor’s office.
The appellate court found the arguments of the appeal not worthy of attention, upholding the verdict passed by the city court. The man will have to serve 3 years of imprisonment in a penal colony. The victims’ claims to recover damages caused by the crime from the man were also satisfied.
