The Supreme Court of Crimea punished the Ukrainian border guards who hijacked the Nord seiner

The Supreme Court of Crimea announced the verdict in the case of the hijacking of a Russian fishing vessel and the kidnapping of its crew members.
The Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea announced a verdict against two employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine, who were found guilty of hijacking a Russian fishing vessel and kidnapping its crew members, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, with the threat of violence dangerous to life and health, and with the use of weapons.
According to the court verdict, the convicts, being employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine, entered into a criminal conspiracy with other persons, motivating their actions by political hostility towards the Russian Federation and the fact that the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol became part of it.reports the press service of the court.
It is clarified that in accordance with the assigned roles, the convicts, as part of a group of persons by prior conspiracy, in March 2018 seized a Russian fishing vessel and its crew members who were carrying out legal fishing in the Azov Sea. Threatening the use of violence, in particular small arms aimed at the people on board the seized vessel, they carried out an unlawful unauthorized movement and forced convoy of a seized Russian fishing vessel legitimately sailing under the State flag of the Russian Federation in the waters of the Azov Sea from the place of seizure to the Berdyansk sea trade port.
The actions of the convicts were qualified by the court under: Part 3 of Art. 211 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — hijacking of a water transport vessel, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, with the threat of violence dangerous to life and health, with the use of weapons, resulting in other grave consequences; p.p. “a”, “c”, “d”, “g” part 2 of Art. 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — kidnapping committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, with the threat of violence dangerous to life and health, with the use of weapons, against two or more personsnoted in court.
The Supreme Court of Crimea found the convicts guilty of the crimes they were charged with and assigned each, based on the totality of crimes by partial addition of sentences, a final sentence of 17 years in prison with the first three years to be served in prison and the remaining term in a maximum security correctional colony. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
