At the age of 83, a talented artist, holder of the Order of Merit, III degree, winner of the Union of Artists of the USSR and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, T. Shevchenko Prize, Honorary Citizen of the city of Yalta Stepan Petrovich Dzhus, passed away.
Stepan Petrovich was born on June 19, 1941 in the village of Kobylnya, Lipovetsky district, Vinnitsa region. In 1958 he graduated from high school and entered the Crimean Art College named after Samokish. He received his higher education at the Kharkov Institute of Art and Industry, from which he graduated in 1971. The main theme of Stepan Dzhus’s work is the beloved Crimea. He developed it, finding his own rhythms and melody, making his work unique. His paintings depict both the well-known places of the South Coast, his «visiting cards», and the hidden corners in which he found a special attraction. The work of Stepan Dzhus is rooted in the picturesque Ukrainian and Russian traditions.
Paintings, unique tapestries, mosaics, paintings by Stepan Dzhus not only decorate the premises of sanatoriums and boarding houses, but create a highly artistic aesthetics of the space. And forever remain a reminder of this wonderful artist.
The administration of the city of Yalta and the Yalta city council deeply mourn the death of Stepan Petrovich Dzhus, and express their sincere condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.
