The Tavrida highway, does Crimea need it or not? Numbers give the answer

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The highway «Tavrida» in the Crimea does not give rest to the debaters — both motorists and «couch experts». In the «piggy bank» of positive: a modern high-speed highway across the entire peninsula, from Kerch to Sevastopol, four lanes and separation of streams by a fence, high-quality asphalt concrete. Among the «negative» arguments: everywhere installed on the «highway» cameras «at 90» (and in some places even «at 70»), a high accident rate (by the way, the traffic police assured that this is a myth, but in the minds of the drivers «Tavrida» and «a serious accident ” are strongly associated), and from the locals — not the most convenient races to the adjacent villages and nearby villages, hence the “claim” — the route “for visitors”. Haven’t forgotten anything?

However, all these are emotions and discussions. The Tavrida highway has been built and the best argument for its significance, importance and necessity is traffic flows. Traffic is serious. According to official data, more than 13 million cars have passed through Tavrida since the start of traffic. Recall that the design capacity of the road is 40,000 vehicles per day.

More than 13 million vehicles have traveled along the Tavrida federal highway towards the Crimean Bridge and back in the three years since the traffic was launched. At the same time, the main part of the flow is made up of cars (more than 11.2 million), also during this period over 1.8 million trucks and more than 140 thousand buses drove to the peninsula and in the opposite direction, — said Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, the words of which are given in the message on website Governments.

According to the deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, the roads of Crimea after its return to Russia required serious changes. The backbone of the peninsula’s road network was the Tavrida highway, which was built in an unprecedentedly short time.

Work on the development of this network continues with the construction of exits from the federal highway to the Black Sea coast, which will significantly improve the comfort and safety of traffic for both Crimeans and tourists from all over RussiaKhusnullin noted.

He recalled that 19 multi-level interchanges were built as part of the route, which provided communication with existing regional and local roads. 96 bridges and overpasses were built along its entire length. For the safety and convenience of pedestrians, bus stops with pavilions for waiting for route transport have been installed, and pedestrian fences have been installed. Provided and comfortable travel for motorists. Thus, along the Tavrida there are 12 multifunctional road service zones, including gas stations, cafes, shops and playgrounds.

According to the head of the Federal Road Agency (Rosavtodor) Roman Novikov, the construction of the eighth (“Sevastopol”) stage of the “Tavrida” with a length of about 8 km, the construction contract for which was signed in June 2020, is nearing completion.

The working movement on four lanes throughout the entire section has already been launched. It is planned to put the facility into operation before December 1, 2023— said the head of Rosavtodor.

RecallOn August 27, 2020, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, driving an Aurus along one of the sections of the Tavrida highway, gave permission to open car traffic and even then answered the question about the need for such a route in Crimea.
