The tenants unexpectedly moved out and grabbed… the owner's refrigerator. Case in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Sevastopol, investigators detained two men suspected of stealing a refrigerator from their landlord.

It was established that two 24-year-old friends rented an apartment from a 73-year-old local resident and lived in it for some time. When payment for rent was not received on the next billing day, and the tenants stopped communicating, the pensioner sensed something was wrong and decided to check if everything was in order with his square meters and his fears were confirmed. As it turned out, the guests secretly moved out of the apartment, taking his refrigerator worth 30 thousand rubles.— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

As a result of operational search activities, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Gagarinsky district detained the suspects. The criminals admitted that they sold the stolen equipment to a thrift store and used the criminal proceeds to buy alcohol. An interesting detail: one of the detainees had previously been prosecuted for theft.

A criminal case has been initiated against the detainees under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”), they face up to five years in prison. A preventive measure was chosen against one of the defendants in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place, the second was taken into custody.
