The traditional ceremony of blessing the gowns of medical workers took place in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Saint Luke of Crimea went down in human history as a talented surgeon, an outstanding scientist, clergyman, and spiritual mentor. His selfless service to people and medicine is an example for all Orthodox doctors, and today Crimean doctors turn to him with prayers— the press service quotes the acting head of the Crimean Ministry of Health Olga Rastrigina.
On the eve of the holiday, Archpriest Pavel presented the Acting Minister of Health of Crimea Olga Rastrigina with an icon of the Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea St. Luke and his fundamental work “Essays on Purulent Surgery.”
Today, a water blessing prayer service and the rite of consecration of white coats were also held in the Alexander Nevsky Temple in Yalta, where students and teachers of the State Autonomous Educational Institution of Secondary Professional Education of the Republic of Crimea “Yalta Medical College” took part.
At the end of the liturgy, the Dean of the churches of the Yalta district, the rector of the Alexander Nevsky Church, the Honorary Citizen of Yalta Adam Dmitrenko noted that the Lord called us to the feat of active love, embodied in selfless service to our neighbors, and especially to those who need our support: the suffering, the sick, lonely, despondent. If this law of life, which was so clearly presented and expressed in the earthly life of the Savior Himself, becomes the property of the majority, then people will be truly happy. After all, by serving others, a person gains incomparably more than he gives.
