The trend towards remote work continues in Russia

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Companies are in no hurry to return their employees to the office from remote work. This conclusion was made by experts of the Price.ru online price comparison service (part of the S8 Capital holding), after analyzing the statistics of online demand for office furniture and equipment, as well as related products.

The study was conducted based on the demand for 36 million products sold in online stores throughout Russia and presented on Price.ru.

Thus, online demand for office furniture in January-July 2023 increased slightly compared to the same period last year (+3%). The frequency of the query “desktops” increased by 4%, while interest in office chairs and office chairs fell by 10%.

A desktop can be bought both in the office and at home, so it is possible that the increase in this demand may be due to the fact that some Russians simply update the furniture in their apartments— platform experts say.

At the same time, the demand for computers and laptops for the office in the first six months of 2023 sank by 9% and 7%, respectively. Moreover, analysts record a drop in demand for goods from previously popular manufacturers: HP (-36%), Asus (-34%), Acer (-29%), Lenovo (-29%), Dell (-21%), Samsung (- 15%). Online demand for MSI (+40%) and Huawei (+50%) products is growing.

Despite the fact that office paper prices have stabilized after a sharp increase in 2022, the trend towards paper savings seems to have continued in companies: demand for office paper decreased (-72%), multifunctional devices (-15%), office printers (-14%) and cartridges for them (-10%). At the same time, the demand for scanners increased by 28%.

Fixed phones are becoming a thing of the past: online demand for office telephony has fallen by 7%. Most likely, this is due to the fact that after the transition to remote work or a hybrid work format, company employees use mobile phones and IP telephony more often.

At the same time, a significant increase in online demand is shown by means of video surveillance and access control systems (+111%). According to Price.ru experts, this may be due to a steady trend towards increased security of office buildings, the need to identify visitors and staff.
