The tunnel water pipeline of the Southern Coast of Crimea is 91% ready

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In the territories of the municipalities of the Yalta city district and the Bakhchisarai region, the reconstruction of the tunnel water pipeline of the Southern Coast of Crimea with a length of 7,225.8 meters continues. As of today, the construction readiness of the facility is 91%.

Work on the reconstruction of the underground tunnel began in 2021, the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of the Republic of Crimea recalled.

Water will be transported from the Schastlivoe-2 reservoir to the treatment facilities of the Yalta urban district. The tunnel route is a continuation of the existing backup section of the tunnel and runs parallel to the operated Yalta hydraulic tunnel. The contractor’s specialists have already completed the reconstruction of the existing unfinished South Portal tunnel (1,580 linear meters), which began to be built in the 60s of the last century,” noted the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Crimea.

In addition, work was completed to excavate the North Portal tunnel (5,645 linear meters were completed), and a connection was made to the existing part of the tunnel on the south side.

Currently, work is being carried out to improve the tunnel, arrange a chute through which water will be supplied, as well as install equipment and seismic sensors.

The facility is being implemented within the framework of the State program of the Russian Federation “Socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol”. The cost of its construction according to the concluded government contract is 8,457 million rubles. The work is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.
