The unfortunate artist who painted the 11th Sevastopol battery may be sent to a colony for three years
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The story of the would-be artist, an unlucky follower of Banksy, received wide resonance. Let us remind you, this 37-year-old man, like a foolish teenager, painted graffiti on the 11th Sevastopol battery. And God bless the artistic “value” of his drawings, but he desecrated the monument.
The Sevastopol police reported that a criminal case had been opened. If someone was naive and thought that everything would be limited to “hooliganism” (essentially, an apology and a fine), he was mistaken. Everything is much more serious. “Guest from Moscow” damaged a cultural heritage site of regional significance. However, he says that with the help of graffiti he wanted to leave his business card to the Hero City (“I just painted the ship’s cannon”). As it turned out, the man had previously been prosecuted for vandalism and theft.
Currently, employees of the inquiry department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Leninsky district have opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 243 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Destruction or damage to objects of cultural heritage (historical and cultural monuments) of the peoples of the Russian Federation included in the unified state register of cultural heritage objects (historical and cultural monuments) of the peoples of the Russian Federation, identified objects of cultural heritage, natural complexes, objects taken under protection of the state or cultural values»— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
The sanction of the incriminated article provides for punishment in the form of a fine of up to three million rubles, compulsory labor for a term of up to four hundred hours, forced labor for a term of up to three years, or imprisonment for a term of up to three years.
