From October 31 to November 4, Sevastopol hosts the Unity Cup children’s and youth sports festival dedicated to National Unity Day. The Festival includes rugby and football competitions. The event is being implemented within the framework of the regional project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”.
It’s great that the Unity Cup festival is held in Sevastopol, and we hope that the opening in our dolphinarium will become a good tradition. Last year this festival was held in Naberezhnye Chelny, but only for football and had a larger geography. In Sevastopol, the festival is becoming even more popular because rugby has joined it– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the department for youth and sports Sergei Reznichenko.
More than 460 children in two age categories born in 2013 and 2012 from the Donetsk People’s Republic, Lugansk People’s Republic, Zaporozhye region, Republic of Crimea, Republic of Ingushetia and Sevastopol take part in the competition.
The love for football and rugby is growing — it is getting stronger and stronger. The next five days await us a lot, a lot of football and rugby, a sea of genuine emotions from victories and, what to do, defeats, an ocean of vivid impressions from hospitable Sevastopol. The festival in Sevastopol is, in a way, a continuation of one big story. We are taking over the baton from St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Naberezhnye Chelny and accepting this baton in Sevastopol“, notes Svetlana Patrusheva, Deputy Chairman of the Public Council under the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, Head of the Children’s and Youth Festival of Team Sports “Unity Cup”.
Also, as part of the festival, a cultural program is planned for participants arriving from the Hero Cities and new constituent entities of the Russian Federation: LPR, DPR and Zaporozhye region. The grand opening for festival participants will take place on the territory of the dolphinarium in Victory Park on November 1.
