The velvet season in Crimea can drag on until October
Krympress reports:
A storm warning about abnormal heat is also valid in the Republic of Crimea: from July 8 to 12, the average daily air temperature will exceed the climatic rate by 7 degrees. The maximum air temperature these days will be 38 degrees of heat, then July 13-14 will be up to 36-37 degrees of heat. At the same time, until the end of the month, precipitation is mainly not expected.
The velvet season in Crimea is the period of early autumn (usually from September to early October), when the weather is warm, but not too hot, which is ideal for tourism, including beach holidays and excursions. Usually this period lasts about 4 weeks.
The heat and clear weather of the second half of the summer 2025 can well warm up the Azov and Black Seas, which can extend the bathing season until the end of September or even early October. Water temperature is a key factor for beach recreation. If the heat remains in early autumn, this will create comfortable conditions for relaxation longer than the usual— said Vakhrushev.
The scientist noted that the velvet season depends not only on temperature, but also on the presence of autumn storms, especially on the Black Sea, which can limit the beach vacation, even if the sea and air remain warm. However, the velvet season attracts not only lovers of beaches, but also tourists who are interested in excursions and recovery, which makes it profitable regardless of bathing.
Given these factors, the beach segment of the velvet season this year can last 1-2 weeks longer, until mid-October, if the storm activity is low. In general, the season will remain active in September and early October, which has become typical of Crimea in recent years— said the expert.
