The Kerch police received a message from a 75-year-old local resident who reported the theft of money and jewelry. The damage amounted to 140 thousand rubles.
During the verification of the information received, police officers established that a previously unconvicted 36-year-old resident of the Stavropol Territory, who came to Crimea to earn money, was involved in fraudulent activities.
Police officers quickly located the attacker and went on a business trip, where they detained the attacker at a stationary traffic police post in the Stavropol Territory, preventing him from escaping with the stolen goods. During a personal search, jewelry and part of the stolen funds were confiscated from the detainee.
A man came to Kerch to sell bedding. On the street he met an elderly woman, whom he offered to buy pillows and blankets. Having received the consent of the pensioner, he took her by car to her place of residence. After a short conversation, succumbing to the influence of the attacker, the woman allowed her to keep several bedding sets in her storage, and in return gave 40 thousand rubles and jewelry, allegedly on bail— the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea told the details of the fraud.
The suspect admitted his guilt and repented of his crime. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fraud”). The defendant was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention.
