The wallet was lying nearby, the wallet is no more … Incident in Dzhankoy

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The territorial police department in Dzhankoy received a statement from a 35-year-old man about the theft of funds in the amount of 60 thousand rubles.

The applicant told the police officers that, while relaxing in one of the city’s establishments, he paid for alcoholic drinks, and put his wallet next to him. After some time, he discovered his absence. As a result of operational-search activities, the criminal investigation officers identified the identity of the suspect. It turned out to be a 22-year-old young man with no previous convictions. The attacker confessed to his deed and wrote a confession. The detainee explained that, while on probation at this institution, he drew attention to a man who, having paid for alcohol, put his wallet next to him on the sofa. The suspect decided to quietly steal the wallet. Having completed his intent, he waited for the end of the work. Already on the street, he took the contents, and threw out the wallet not far from the institution. He spent the money on his own needs— the details of the incident were announced in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Republic of Crimea.

The investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia «Dzhankoisky» initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Theft). The sanction of this article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to five years. The detainee was given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave.
