CrimeaPRESS reports:

The solemn awarding ceremony for the participants of the contest of scientific, popular science and journalistic works «Cuba: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow», dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Cuban figure Ernesto Che Guevara, was held in Crimea for the first time.

For the first time in our republic, a creative competition of works dedicated to the historical personality, hero and revolutionary, fighter for the freedom and independence of Cuba, Ernesto Che Guevara, was held. This is a significant and important event for all of us.— quotes the press service of the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers — Minister of Finance of the Republic of Crimea, chairman of the Crimean branch of the Russian Society for Friendship with Cuba (RODC) Irina Kiviko.

According to her, the awarding took place within the framework of the international round table, which took place at the Crimean Federal University named after V.I. Vernadsky. The competition, which was held with the support of the Crimean regional branch of the Russian Society for Friendship with Cuba, featured 16 works, of which three became the best.

We are confident that the anniversary of Che Guevara provides an excellent opportunity to talk again and again about the restoration of the former strong ties between Russia and Cuba. Now relations between our countries are being strengthened both at the highest level and at the level of people’s diplomacy, thanks to public organizations. This is amazing!— emphasizes Irina Kiviko.

Irina Kiviko expressed her hope that in the near future the Crimean universities will again be able to receive their Cuban friends, and the Crimean specialists will be able to help Cuban comrades.

She recalled that it was Che Guevara who initiated the study of Cubans in the Soviet Union. More than 300 Cubans studied in Dzhankoy in the 60s of the last century. They acquired the professions of machine operators, tractor drivers, field farmers, livestock breeders.

We are confident that the Russian and Cuban peoples will continue the traditions of friendship and mutual assistance!the Deputy Prime Minister notes.
