The world premiere of the ballet «War and Peace» took place in Simferopol

In Simferopol, on the stage of the State Academic Musical Theater of the Republic of Crimea, the world premiere of the ballet «War and Peace» based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy to music by Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov took place.
A significant event in the cultural life of the peninsula became possible thanks to the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, as well as the development of interregional creative cooperation between four constituent entities of the Russian Federation — the Donetsk People’s Republic, the city of Moscow, the Republic of Mari El and the Republic of Crimea.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea, over 200 participants are involved in the premiere production — soloists of the Kremlin Ballet Theatre, a symphony orchestra, choir and ballet of the Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after A.B. Solovyanenko (Donbass Opera), artists of the Mari Opera and Ballet Theatre. The main roles in the ballet are performed by the prima ballerina of the Kremlin Ballet Theatre, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Ekaterina Pervushina (Natasha Rostova), the leading soloists of the Kremlin Ballet Theatre, Daniil Roslanov (Andrey Bolkonsky) and Mikhail Evgenov (Pierre Bezukhov).
Choreographer — People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, laureate of the Moscow Prize and the State Prize of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Salavat Yulaeva Andrey Petrov. The artistic director of the production is the artistic director of the Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, People’s Artist of Ukraine Vadim Pisarev, and the producer is Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Aidar Shaydullin. The authors of the libretto are Viktor Dobrosotsky and Andrey Petrov. The ballet set designer was Grigory Belov, Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation, and Olga Polyanskaya was the costume designer.
The premiere also includes an extensive cultural and educational program for all participants and guests of the project — lectures and master classes in classical dance.
Master classes in classical dance for female and male artists of the Donbass Opera and project participants, including for children from Crimea and Donbass, were held by Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, People’s Artist of the Republic of Mari El, former Prime Minister of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia Konstantin Ivanov and People’s Artist Ukrainian SSR, artistic director of the Donbass Opera Vadim Pisarev. Leading soloists of the Kremlin Ballet Theater involved in the production take part in the master classes.
After the Republic of Crimea, the premiere performance of the ballet will be presented on the stages of Sevastopol and the Bolshoi Theater of Russia.
Before the start of the world premiere, a press conference was held with the participation of Olga Burova, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Crimea, Mikhail Zheltyakov, Minister of Culture of the DPR, Konstantin Ivanov, Minister of Culture, Press and National Affairs of the Republic of Mari El, Producer of the production, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Aidar Shaidullin, General Director Donbass Opera by Yevgeny Denisenko, artistic director of the production by Vadim Pisarev and performers of the main roles in the ballet— the press service of the Republican Ministry of Culture reports.
On behalf of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Crimea Tatyana Manezhina, Olga Burova greeted all the participants and guests of the large-scale creative project, noting the significance of the world premiere of the ballet «War and Peace» for the entire culture of Russia, the development of cultural ties between the regions of the country and creative teams that acquaint the younger generation with the best examples of Russian classical literature.
Earlier, Crimea had already got acquainted with the work of the Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after. A.B. Solovyanenko, when unforgettable productions of the opera «Prince Igor» and the theatrical mystery «Carmina Burana» were presented.
The premiere performance of the ballet «War and Peace» was attended by representatives of the authorities of the Republic of Crimea, republican institutions and cultural and art figures. The performance was sold out and evoked enthusiastic emotions from the Crimean audience.
