Theft of a mobile phone = three years in prison. Sentence to a resident of Bakhchisarai district

A 28-year-old resident of the Bakhchisarai district, who has previously been repeatedly convicted, will spend three years in a general regime correctional colony. The Bakhchisarai District Court of the Republic of Crimea sentenced him for the theft of a mobile phone.
As established by the materials of the criminal case, a young man in early February of this year met a resident of Bakhchisarai in a city public park, with whom he began to drink alcohol. The townsman invited a casual acquaintance to spend the night with him, to which the latter agreed without hesitation, anticipating the continuation of the drinking binge. In the victim’s apartment, having finished drinking alcohol, the men went to bed, and in the morning the hospitable owner discovered that the guest was missing, and with him his mobile phone. After which the victim contacted the police with a statement about the theft of the phone, — the details of the incident were announced by the court press service.
At the court hearing, the defendant admitted his guilt in full and repented of his crime.
The defendant’s guilt in the act charged to him was confirmed during the consideration of the criminal case by evidence examined at the court hearing. The court came to the conclusion that the defendant was guilty under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – theft, secret theft of someone else’s property, committed with causing significant damage to a citizen.
No civil claim has been filed in the case.
The verdict did not enter into legal force.
