There are different cases: tenants began to include the risk of sabotage in their insurance

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In the commercial real estate segment — business centers, shopping and entertainment complexes, etc. — there have been more requests for additional insurance coverage, they said «Rossiyskaya Gazeta» insurance market participants. This, in particular, includes the risk of sabotage and terrorism.

According to insurers’ estimates, the level of insurance coverage in the segment is quite high — not only in large cities, but throughout the country as a whole. This is due to the fact that commercial properties are often collateral for bank loans, so insurance is mandatory for them.

Demand for insurance from commercial property owners and tenants remains stable.

Immediately after the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, there was some slight increase in demand for insurance, but it cannot be said that it has changed significantly. However, it should be noted that most of the shopping centers were insured against the main property risks (fire, flood, illegal actions of third parties) even before the terrorist attacksaid Katerina Yakunina, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Professional Insurance Brokers (APSB).

Kirill Obukhov, head of the underwriting department for property insurance of legal entities at Soglasie Insurance Company, noted that major insurance events occurring in the market stimulate companies to immediately think about insurance: in the period of one to two weeks after a major loss, there is a significant increase in requests for insurance conditions , but these requests do not develop into concluded contracts.

We did not notice any changes in the demand for insurance from shopping center owners and their tenants after the terrorist attacksaid Dmitry Shishkin, head of the liability insurance department of Ingosstrakh.

According to Yakunina, a small share of the shopping center is insured for general civil liability. A bill on compulsory liability insurance for owners of public facilities may be prepared by the summer, President of the All-Russian Union of Insurers Evgeny Ufimtsev previously reported. The Central Bank noted that due to pre-insurance assessment, this tool can encourage owners to improve safety at their facilities.
