There are problems with the availability of glucose monitoring devices in regions. The President is already owed
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The head of the Executive Committee of the Popular Front, Mikhail Kuznetsov, at a meeting of the President of Russia with members of the Government, reported on the results of checking the availability of continuous glucose monitoring devices (CGM) and asked the Government to find an algorithm for administering the issue at the federal level and to support the regions. The Popular Front organized a survey of 4,255 people, two thirds of whom were parents of diabetic children. More than 70% of respondents faced a shortage of devices and more than 80% faced a shortage of consumables for them.
In the vast majority of regions, cases have been identified where patients wait for systems equipped with an insulin pump from six months to three years. First of all, it is necessary for children from 0 to 4 years old who cannot inject themselves with insulin. There are examples when residents of the Novosibirsk region, without waiting for medical products from the region, go to Tomsk to receive the system— the head of the Executive Committee of the Popular Front, Mikhail Kuznetsov, told the President of the Russian Federation.
The most common problem is the lack of sensor systems that transmit data to the phone. It was recorded in 63 regions. When looking for a solution, some entities independently lower the age for provision of medical devices, for example, from 18 to 12 years — and after 12 years they are not issued to children.
Also, the head of the Executive Committee of the Popular Front noted the lack of consumable parts in 65 regions, primarily sensors for already installed pumps. Without a sensor, the device ceases to perform its main function and does not work in automatic mode. For example, in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the Medtronic transmitter has not been issued since August 2022, which does not allow the use of an insulin pump.
The head of the Executive Committee of the Popular Front, Mikhail Kuznetsov, emphasized:
People have the legal right to receive devices and consumables for them. At the same time, an analysis of competitive procedures shows that to date, tenders have not been held in 27 regions, and in 21 regions there is no regional benefit backed by money. Parents of sick children defend their rights in the courts and the prosecutor’s office supports them. Only after this they receive the required medical products. We request the Government to support regions at the federal level that do not provide adequate support for the regions. It is necessary for the Ministry of Health to help the regions purchase the required volume and distribute these systems to people.
Following the meeting, President Vladimir Putin instructed the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation to pay attention to the results of the monitoring of the Popular Front and, in a week, present proposals to change the situation.
