They are accused of corruption: the former chief and employees of the Sevastopol Bureau of SME went on court

The investigating authorities of the IC of Russia completed an investigation into a criminal case against officials of the State Budgetary Institution “Sevastopol City Bureau of Forensic Medical Expertise”. The former head of the institution and head of the department is accused of receiving bribes on an especially large scale (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), orderlies of the department of forensic medical examination of corpses-in giving bribes to their leadership on an especially large scale (part 5 of article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The investigator in particularly important cases established that from January 2023 to July 2024 the head of the Bureau of the city of SME Sevastopol and the head of the department received bribes from the orderly for general patronage and connivance on the service. In particular, the funds were transferred to the authorities for an unspoken permission to receive money from relatives of the dead for the provision of additional paid services for embalming and makeup of bodies that were delivered to the Bureau for the SME. Thus, for the indicated period, the head of the Sevastopol City Bureau of Forensic Medical Expertise and the head of the department received bribes from the two orderlies for a total of more than 4.3 million rubles. The corruption actions of officials of the Bureau of SME were identified and suppressed by the employees of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the power support of the Russian Guard,-the press service of the department said.

The investigation carried out a significant amount of work: a wide range of persons was interrogated, numerous examinations were carried out, searches for the places of work and residence of the defendants, two of whom pleaded guilty in full.

Currently, the criminal investigation has been completed. With approved indictment, it was sent to the court for consideration on the merits.
