Thieves' «tours» in Alushta were interrupted by the police

In Alushta, criminal investigation operatives uncovered a series of thefts from private households.

The Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Alushta received 3 statements from local residents aged 32, 60 and 69 about thefts from their private households. In all cases, the applicants noted that there were no signs of forced entry. The total amount of damage caused to the victims amounted to more than 300,000 rubles. During the operational-search activities, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea, together with colleagues from the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Alushta, detained the suspect. He turned out to be a 41-year-old resident of the Saki district, previously repeatedly convicted of committing crimes of a property nature.— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

It was established that the attacker rented an apartment in Alushta. Using the method of selecting keys to door locks, he entered the private households of residents of the resort city and nearby settlements. He stole jewelry and money. Investigators at the suspect’s place of temporary residence seized some of the stolen jewelry. The police found the rest at the home of a friend of the defendant in the Simferopol region.

Based on these facts, the investigator of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Alushta initiated criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under Part 4 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Theft). The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to 6 years. The attacker was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention.

As the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea clarified, the detainee’s involvement in 4 more similar episodes on the territory of the peninsula has already been established.
